I am a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Minnesota Morris, where I publish in and teach applied ethics and social/political philosophy.
I like giving original arguments for positions normal people think are commonsensical and philosophers think are problematic. Recent and current topics of interest include monument ethics, sexual norms, gender dynamics, immigration policy, and nationalism. I frequently bring social science, global perspectives, and PPE approaches to bear in my work.
I teach courses like Introductory Ethics, Professional Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Philosophy of Law, Political Philosophy, Ethics of Love and Sex, Philosophy of Religion, College Controversies, and Biomedical Ethics. I also coach UMM's Competitive Ethics team.
I'm doing more public philosophy nowadays. Subscribe to my Substack, Flyover Philosophy, for medium-warm takes and follow me on X for random musings. I have some videos posted on my Public Philosophy page, and more will be coming once the Flyover Philosophy Podcast gets up and running.
Near-term directions for my work include editing a volume of original, applied conservative/rightist philosophy, writing a monograph titled Sex and Nation, and publishing articles on immigration and nativism.
